	How to Join? LETS is a way of exchanging goods & services with other people in the community without the need for money. Local Exchange Trading Schemes are a new way to regenerate communities and rebuild the local economy. There are many LETS Schemes running successfully throughout the world. LETS - Thinking globally, acting locally. Local LETS is run by and for local people creating wealth that stays within the area. It puts people in touch with a great variety of resources & skills. Exchange LETS is based on the idea of barter, but it is bigger, more sophisticated, and much more effective! The range of exchange is vastly expanded. Trading LETS uses cashless trading. Wealth is created directly through trade, no interest is charged and everybody benefits equally. Scheme LETS is a non-profit making community enterprise. It offers a new means of communication. Everybody has skills and someone out there needs yours! Caister LETS was formed in April 2005 and is still in its early stages. Who is joining? Anyone and everyone; individuals, charities and businesses. Caister LETS is open to anyone in the local community - all kinds of skills are welcome and needed. To join Caister LETS simply fill in the application form - list your skills, hobbies and whatever you have to offer or need, and return the application form with your subscription. Membership Cost Membership rates are kept as low as possible, to join the scheme for a year the cost is: £8 (waged) £4 (unwaged) Additional members of a household/family can join for a reduced rate of £2 (waged) £1 (unwaged). Please note that OAPs and under 16's can join for FREE As a Member you will receive: A current directory and address list A personal Caister FrogLETS account A Caister FrogLETS chequebook 10 FrogLETs in your account to get you started. How to trade: You can start trading immediately. As LETS is interest free you do not have to earn credit before you spend, in fact members are encouraged to go into deficit as this stimulates trade. To trade, a member simply contacts a person in the directory and makes arrangements about time, rate etc. When the job is done the buyer gives a LETS cheque to the seller authorising the transfer of the agreed number of FrogLETS to their account. The seller then sends the cheque in to the Treasurer for it to be recorded on the LETS accounts. The Caister FrogLETS Directory is published every six months, and between directories we send out update sheets detailing skills, services, and goods of new members (updated on this web site as soon as they are received). The address list is available separately, to members only. Making friends: LETS Schemes offer many social as well as economic benefits. In Caister we hold regular group meetings and LETS get-togethers and hope to encourage a variety of community enterprises.
